Troop 210 Parent Committee Meeting

Minutes of Parent meeting 8/22/02 approved as written.
The Faculty lounge is now available at every Monday scout meeting for parents to socialize.
Reports:
Scoutmaster Philmont Scout camp If Troop 210 is interested in sending a group to Philmont Scout camp in New Mexico 2004 sign up starts in November, and Philmont will need to be contacted soon for advance information. The camp is about two weeks and the cost is approximately $400 not including equipment and travel. Mr. Chartrand may be contacted for more information. Next Court of Honor Mr. Zanoni will put together the written program for the evening. Patrol Point System Doug presented the program in detail and answered questions regarding its purpose and implementation. He also reviewed several initiatives he hopes to encourage this year. Out meeting coverage Doug will not be able to make these meeting due to his responsibility as Cub scoutmaster. Anna recommended that she and Deb meet with the PLC at their next meeting or at a Monday meeting. Doug recommended that the boys need to assist with planning the meetings and assure that there is sufficient adult leadership.
General discussion It was proposed that the next court of honor should recognize scouts that have earned their religious award. The committee agreed that Troop 210 could supply the insignia for the uniform. Several members voiced concern over the lack of structured activities during the next planned camp out. After a brief discussion it was determined that two adults may be able to offer their services as merit badge counselors (for camping and astronomy).
Treasurer report Mike reviewed the actual and adopted budget for 2001-02 and the proposed budget for 2002-03.
Advancement Coordinator Margi reminded all members that all signed blue cards must be submitted to her by October 14.

Highway cleanup Marcie has agreed to take this project on as coordinator. It will continue to be offered as a project for service hours as long as there is an interest among the scouts.
Popcorn sales Will announce for interest at the next scout meeting.
Committee Chair Scott has announced that he will be stepping down from this position. He is interested and willing to help a new chairperson learn the job while he transitions out.
The next parent meeting is scheduled for October 10, 7 PM to 8:30 PM at St. Pius.
